With 2015 inching nearer, many of us are already thinking about how and what we will resolve ourselves to do next year. Whether it’s fitness goals, relationship decisions, or career changes, none of these things will be able to flourish without the appropriate mental state needed to fuel your goals or without planning. So, rid yourself of naysayers or vices that have impeded past goals and start planning and training your mind for success!

Set a goal. Your goal or “resolution” should be something realistic and obtainable. If it’s a career change, think about the specifics and ask yourself are you willing to commit to whatever it takes! Would you be willing to work longer hours for that promotion or are you fine with going back to school to obtain the education requirements? It’s easy to see the end goal without including the legwork it takes to get there!

Plan, plan, and plan some more.  Proper planning is everything. A good way to plan is to literally write it out. Sometimes seeing it written out makes it a bit more tangible. You can revisit it often and make changes accordingly. By the time the New Year rolls in you will have your plan perfected and ready to hit the ground running!

See it through. Let’s face it…it can be tough to follow through with things. Real life events can throw a detour in the most well laid plans. However, having a bit of “sticktoitness” and perseverance can help you to the end. A good idea is to always have a plan B and C and to never be afraid of failure.

The bottom line.  An overwhelming majority of New Years Resolutions fall to the waist side or only last a few months, weeks, or even days! Sticking to a resolution takes WORK! What will you do to ensure you are celebrating your accomplishments at the close of 2015? What will set you apart from the crowd?
