4 Simple Ways to Unwind After a Long Day | Super Soul Sunday | Oprah Winfrey Network
Women are known to be amazing multitaskers. We can work full time, hit up happy hour, cook dinner, and care for our families. We take great pride in assuring those around us are okay, but at the end of the day that “always on the go” feeling can leave us restless and worried. We often go to bed with a list of things on our minds, and wake up to a list ten times longer. It is important to remember while we take on the job of saving the world, we must save ourselves first. Here are some ways to unwinds and shut down our bodies and minds before they shut down on us:
How To Unwind Before Going To Bed
- Warm Bath- Taking a warm bath can help relieve stress by easing the tension in muscles. It’s also a natural way of inducing sleep.
- No Cell Phone- Studies from the National Sleep Foundation have shown turning off cell phones at least two hours before sleep can increase the release of an important sleep hormone, and can improve the quality of sleep for individuals.
- Yoga- Yoga has become very popular among many, and its techniques are often used to promote relaxation. Some techniques used specifically to promote good sleep are the Upside-Down Relaxation, Winding Down Twist, Nighttime Goddess Stretch, and Child’s Pose.
- Listen to Music- listening to music before bed can be used to help shut down an overactive mind before bed. Focusing on the music can help the listener clear their mind and drift off into a deep slumber. Thereby, they may be prepared to face the challenges of the next day.
