Your IQ is a fixed measure. Meaning, you were born with a certain intelligence capacity and despite hard work & effort it’s extremely difficult to surpass that predetermined capacity. If you weren’t born an Einstein, chances are you can never be an Einstein. That’s a downer right?  Well, fortunately for us, another measure has been found that is perhaps more important than IQ… Emotional Intelligence.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to be aware of, control, and respond to your own emotions and those involved in your relationships. It is the key to professional and personal success!

Leading with Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace

There are 4 main tenets to Emotional Intelligence:

Self-awareness: Know and understand yourself as you really are.
Self-management: Use awareness of your emotions to actively choose what you say and do.
Social Awareness: Know and understand other people as they really are.
Relationship Management: Use your understanding of yourself and others to manage relationships in a healthy way.

The best thing about Emotional Intelligence is it isn’t a trait, it’s a skill! That means it can be learned and improved with practice. Think about your strategy to getting a summer body. You plan an exercise regimen, practice your form, and change your habits. Increasing Emotional Intelligence is the same way; it takes diligence, work, and practice! But beware!! just like a summer body can fade, Emotional Intelligence will dwindle if you fall off your regimen. Work it out!

 Now let’s get to the important part: How will it change your life?

  1.  You will FINALLY understand yourself.
  2. You will be more confident.
  3. You won’t be so hard on yourself.
  4. You will improve your mood.
  5. You will learn to check yourself and respond appropriately to conflict.
  6. You will understand other people.
  7. You will do better in social situations.
  8. You will climb the corporate ladder (and make more $$$).
  9. Your loved ones will thank you for it.
  10. You will catch up with the rest of the world!
