As 2015 approaches, plans to identify a new year’s resolution are common. Whether your goal is to lose 20 pounds or finish a degree in the upcoming year, actions must be taken in 2014 to clear your mind and life of clutter.

Increase your positive energy: Positive energy can be a driving force to boosting ones mood and perception in life. It can be affected by people and situations causing you to be less productive. Limit your involvement in negative situations or interactions with individuals who jeopardize your happiness.

Review your spending from the current year:  A wise woman will always keep her receipts, but a prepared woman will keep track of her spending by budgeting. Regardless if you have a large amount of money in your bank account or living paycheck to paycheck, budgeting is essential to increasing your net worth and preparing for the future. Review your spending habits from the current year by gathering receipts and or bank statements to identify where you have spent the most money within the last 12 months (clothing, bills, household items, business, etc.) You may be surprised by the amount of money you have spent on certain categories in your life and will be able to determine if that spending habit is beneficial to continuing in 2015.

Accomplished vs. not accomplished: When planning goals for the New Year, figure out what progress you have already made, and build upon what hasn’t improved. Develop a list of all things that have improved in your current day situation within the last 12 months. Provide yourself with accolades for any positive change that has occurred. Follow this task by listing areas in your life that may continue to need attention or may no longer need to be a concern. This activity will assist you in developing feasible goals for 2015 that will lead you to success.
