Relationships are a wonderful thing and should be based on trust, respect, and reciprocity. If yours is based off of worry, stress, doubt, or loneliness, you might need to face the realization that you’ve lost a very critical piece of the puzzle … yourself! Here are a few clues that you might be a “lost one.”

Worry, intense worry. Have you “attempted” to go to bed with your phone tucked next to you waiting for a reply or awaken throughout the night to check for missed calls or texts? No one is worth losing yourself or losing sleep over and the anxiety will only manifest. Don’t be that person who’s a “crabby patty” to everyone else because your upset you didn’t get a reply!

Clothing or body image. If you obsess over your weight, clothing, or body image solely for the pleasing of your mate, you could be on the verge of heading down a vicious cycle of self-loathing. There’s nothing wrong with buying a new dress or trying a new hairstyle to spice things up a bit for your mate, but it is totally unhealthy to do it for the approval or attention of others.

Isolation. A clear indicator that you’ve lost or are beginning to lose yourself is by isolating yourself from others. All too often a person in a relationship can become so consumed that they shut everything and everyone else out of their worlds. The results can be detrimental and lead to codependency or insane jealousy. You need your own life and circle independent of your mate. Get a hobby or meet with friends often and live a life outside of your relationship.

Relationships are complex but they shouldn’t hurt, make you second guess yourself, or have you doubling as Inspector Gadget wondering about your mate. Instead of losing yourself, maintain your cool and confidence!

Remember, it’s so important to stay true and love yourself first before loving anyone else.
