What’s holding you back? It’s a simple question that many of us ask ourselves every day. The opportunities surrounding us are endless, but that little voice inside stops you every time you decide to take the risk. Insecurities stem from a lack of confidence or fear of being judged. We hate to hear a negative reaction from others when we decide to make a change in our lives. We all crave support and reassurance from those around us, but when we fear their rejection we let our dreams go with the wind. If you hide behind your insecurities, who are you really living for them or you? There will always be some type of bump in the road on each journey, but that shouldn’t deter you from following your heart. Here are some tips to fight against insecurities, and build your confidence in the process:
1. Remind yourself everyday of your abilities, instead of focusing on your weaknesses.
2. Remind yourself of the benefits of chasing your dreams, versus the lifelong regret of not.
3. Train yourself to welcome and appreciate constructive criticism.
4. Know yourself well enough to not believe the negative judgments of others.
5. Don’t over think things, act on spontaneity when it is appropriate.
