2014 was your year, or rather, that was last year’s declaration. It was also 2013’s, 2012’s and 2011’s. Much prayer and deep thought has been centered on finding your life’s purpose. So you’ve got it, great stuff. Now what’s the game plan? When your talk game is strong, you can hide a lot of things. Insecurities and more commonly, fear, are the leeches you are constantly trying to ward off. Finding purpose is terrific, walking in purpose … Well, that’s a whole ‘nother ball game.
What does your day consist of?
Let’s be honest, there are a lot of distractions in our days. Social media, for example, has engulfed our entire lives and we can easily be lost in that world for hours. Have you ever heard the term “you are what you eat”? Well you also are what you concentrate on. You can either be a spectator or a participator. It all looks like fun and games, but do you know how much work it takes to post those pretty pictures? The filters don’t show the ugly endurance race, just the medal received for finishing.
The road to success is very lonely and narrow because not everyone is built for it. Sleepless night and stress are all closer to reality. Relationships suffer because the grind is very unsociable and there is more “tuning in” then “turning up”. Success is very attractive, but it takes a rickety, oft broken ladder to get there that not too many can climb. Ask anyone there or on that path what has been affected the most, and they would probably answer personal relationships. Even between those who understand what it takes, there will periodically be fall outs because of the lack of attention their relationship gets.

In Purpose
When you’re walking in purpose and you’re determined, you do things very differently and most will not understand. In fact, it’s not really important that they do. You don’t want to shelf a lot, but it is imperative that until you are able to dedicate the necessary time and attention, that you keep your focus. People that you love are most likely the reason behind your drive. So while it seems like you are ignoring them, they are the picture at the center of it all. Communicate to them that your mission is great, and keeping your focus is for their benefit! Therefore while it’s painful, the sacrifice has to become greater.
On purpose
Discipline yourself. If you have to make a schedule, do it. Need some motivation? Sit down and think about all the days, from the time you first had that ingenious thought until now. Make every day, every minute, count. Gone are the days of admiring those in the successful club from afar. Become a card carrying member! Right here, right now, THIS is what you are going to do. No more “I wish”, the mantra now is “I AM”.
When you do things ON PURPOSE because you’re walking IN PURPOSE, your dreams and desires will have no choice but to become PURPOSE FULFILLED. This is the year, Est. 2015! Let’s get it!
